An introduction to the professional kitchen. Designed for beginner cooks with a passion for food, this camp starts with the basics: food safety and sanitation, knife skills, measuring and seasoning. Learn how to follow a recipe and take home your culinary creations to share with your family.

This camp will focus on the enhancement of the following Essential Skills

Numeracy, Reading, Working with others

SAFETY NOTE: Campers are required to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by the instructors; safety infractions may lead to removal from the camp.
Campers in the cooking camps do not need to register for the lunch program as they will eat what they make in camp for lunch.

All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes with a good tread; no sandals or open-toe shoes permitted in the kitchens. Long pants are required to be worn in the kitchens; no shorts, capris or low-cut tops. Campers are not permitted to wear nail polish for the duration of this camp. Campers with long hair should ensure that they bring hair elastics to tie back their hair.

Camp includes the preparation of foods containing nuts, fish and seafood. SAIT’s kitchens and bakeries process nuts and other allergens.
